Job Summary
Are you ready to assist in planning, forecasting, and implementing Spectrum’s network systems? As a Network Engineer I, you will monitor protocol compatibility, develop network enhancements, and recommend improvements while being responsible for implementing network architecture and designs.
How You’ll Make an Impact
Participate in network planning, network architecture design and engineering
Integrate communication architectures, topologies, hardware, software, transmission and signaling links and protocols into complete network configurations
Evaluate new products and perform network problem resolution
Assist in the development and documentation of technical standards, implementing approved methods of procedure
Monitor protocol compatibility standards, develops and implements network enhancements and makes recommendations for improvement
Work on projects/systems/issues of medium to high complexity surrounding network planning, configuration and optimization
Provide tier support across organizations as a project team member, occasionally as a project team lead
Adhere to industry specific local, state, and federal regulations, as applicable
Understand and follow company policy

What You'll Bring to Spectrum
Required Qualifications
Experience: 2+ years data network experience
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field or equivalent work experience
Skills:
Intermediate Data Networking Knowledge (OSI Model, TCP/IP, Optical Networking)
Demonstrated knowledge of related industry specifications and standards IEEE, ANSI, Fiber (Multimode, Single mode, UTP, etc.), Bridging, Switching, Routing, Ethernet and Transport technologies and protocols
Knowledge in network design, network architecture, protocols and network topology
Demonstrated knowledge in using ticketing and software tools to support the current operations
Demonstrated knowledge of network devices, network appliances, and network designing software, such as Visio
Abilities:
Ability to read, write and speak the English language to communicate with employees, customers, suppliers, in person, on the phone, and by written communications in a clear, straightforward, and professional manner
Ability to use personal computer and software applications, and knowledge of Microsoft Office
Ability to work in a team environment, and to perform duties in a very fast-paced environment and ability to learn new technology quickly
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of company products and services
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
Industry and vendor specific certifications and training (Cisco, Juniper, Alcatel-Lucent, etc.)
