What you can expect in this role
As a Spectrum intern, you’ll spend the summer working alongside two teams: your respective department and your intern cohort.
Department and team-focused projects account for about 80% of your schedule. You’ll spend the other 20% on internship experiences that include a kickoff conference, professional development sessions and networking activities, webinars, community service, cross-functional projects and final presentations.
This experience is designed to help you explore your interests, expand your network and leave with a deeper understanding of both your field and the impact of our business.
Internship responsibilities may include:
The XDG DevOps team is responsible for managing cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, security compliance, and observability across Charter's Spectrum Enterprise platform. The team maintains AWS environments (EKS, RDS, ElastiCache, Lambda), enforces PCI DSS and CMMC compliance standards, manages GitLab-based deployment workflows across multiple environments, and operates monitoring and alerting through Datadog and Splunk. The intern will provide support in one or more of these areas, contributing to automation, documentation, and process improvement efforts that strengthen the team's operational reliability and security posture.
The intern will support the XDG DevOps team by focusing on one or more key areas within our cloud infrastructure, security compliance, and automation portfolio. Potential focus areas include GitLab CI/CD pipeline development and maintenance, PCI DSS compliance automation (such as service account password rotation workflows and audit evidence collection), Terraform-managed AWS infrastructure tasks, security tooling and vulnerability remediation, Datadog observability and cost optimization, or contributing to the team's AI-driven DevOps automation platform. The specific focus will be determined based on the intern's skills and interests, with an emphasis on documentation and process improvement throughout.
Required qualifications
Must be a rising senior with an expected graduation date between December 2027 and May 2028
Must be currently enrolled in an accredited College or University completing a bachelor’s degree
Must have at least a 3.0 GPA or greater in current program
Ability to travel locally to Spectrum intern development events and activities throughout the program
Authorization to work in the U.S. without restrictions or need for future sponsorship
