Lead Software Engineer


BE PART OF THE CONNECTION

As a Lead Software Engineer, you will be responsible for developing, modifying, enhancing, and implementing software systems designed to support business initiatives. Works in all phases of projects, which are of considerable complexity, and requires strong knowledge of development technologies and principles. Serves as a technical resource for and reviews the work of less experienced staff members. Provides technical assistance and advice on existing software solutions.

  • Actively and consistently supports all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
  • Code and perform unit and integration testing of software to ensure proper and efficient execution while adhering to business and technical requirements.
  • Code, test, debug, and enhance new and existing software. Write programs according to specifications.
  • Define specifications for complex programs.
  • Repair critical systems, and assist junior team members in monitoring and repairing systems.
  • Participate in code review sessions to validate adherence with development standards.
  • Develop technical documentation, and assist junior team members in technical documentation.
  • Resolve escalated incidents and problems with software supported by the team.
  • Generates reports.
  • Provide management with system analysis, feedback, and improvement recommendations.
  • Work with software architects identifying and recommending design and requirements needed for software enhancements.
  • Maximize efficiency of various software systems by implementing, monitoring, testing, and auditing new software programs.
  • Participate in performance improvement sessions discussing opportunities to improve processes and/or standards.
  • Coordinate with technical teams to analyze and resolve software related problems causing operational issues, advising on specialized features and functions.
  • Follow established configuration/change control processes.
  • Collaborate with customers, and internal/external technical teams to identify software problems and communicate remediation plans.
  • Mentor, coach, and assess workload of junior team members.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO SPECTRUM

Required Qualifications

  • Experience:
    • DBMS – 7+ years
    • Coding, testing and designing software – 7+ years
    • Software development methodologies – 7+ years
  • Education:
    • BA/BS in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field or equivalent work experience
  • Technical skills:
    • Extensive experience with open source/commercial databases (RDMS and NoSQL) and MQ technologies.
    • Extensive experience working with DevOps engineers to build and deploy infrastructure with cloud deployment technologies.
    • Extensive experience with test-driven development and automated testing frameworks.
    • Strong experience with Scrum/Agile development methodologies.
    • Extensive experience with infrastructure automation technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
    • Extensive experience with build automation technologies (Team City, Jenkins).
    • Extensive experience with monitoring technologies (BigBrother, Hobbit, Solar Winds, NetCool).
    • Extensive experience with programing languages (Java, Python).
    • Extensive experience with building APIs and services using prevailing design models (REST, SOAP).
    • Extensive experience with scripting languages (Perl, Shell). Extensive experience with software security principles and patterns.
    • Hands-on experience with cloud solution providers (Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform).
    • Extensive experience with AWS
  • Skills:
    • Capable of independently delivering on multiple competing priorities.
  • Abilities:
    • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
    • Ability to collaborate with and contribute to a common culture of excellence.

    • Office Environment

The base pay for this position generally is between $98,900.00 and $175,300.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
