Network Engineer II
Do you have what it takes to assist in the planning, forecasting, and implementation of resource requirements for Spectrum’s network systems? As a Network Engineer II, you will be responsible for monitoring protocol compatibility standards, developing and implementing network enhancements, and making recommendations for improvement. You will also be responsible for implementation of network architecture and designs. All of this will directly support our mission to keep millions connected.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Participate in network planning, network architecture design and engineering
- Integrate communication architectures, topologies, hardware, software, transmission and signaling links and protocols into complete network configurations
- Evaluate new products, performs network problem resolution
- Assist in the development and documentation of technical standards
- Implement approved methods of procedure
- Implement and assist in designing protocol compatibility standards, develops and implements network enhancements and makes recommendations for improvement
- Work on projects/systems/issues of medium to high complexity surrounding network planning, configuration and optimization
- Provide tier support across organizations.
- Works on one or more projects as a project team member, occasionally as a project team lead
- Coach less experienced staff
- Adhere to industry specific local, state, and federal regulations, as applicable

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO SPECTRUM
Required Qualifications
Experience:
- 3+ years of data network experience
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field or equivalent work experience
Technical skills:
- Demonstrated knowledge of related industry specifications and standards IEEE, ANSI, Fiber (Multimode, Single mode, UTP, etc.), Bridging, Switching, Routing, Ethernet and Transport technologies and protocols
Demonstrated data networking knowledge (OSI Model, TCP/IP, Optical Transport), knowledge in network design, network architecture, protocols and network topology, and using ticketing and software tools to support the current operations
Demonstrated knowledge of basic network devices, basic network appliances, and network designing software such as Visio asic network devices, basic network appliances, and network designing software such as Visio
Skills:
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced team environment and learn new technology quickly
Abilities:
- Ability to read, write and speak the English language
- Ability to use personal computer and software applications and Microsoft Office
Work Schedule: Must be able to work the following schedule: Wed - Sat Overnights (10pm-8am).
Working Conditions
- May work in Network Lab environment
- 24X7 Network Operations environment
- Depending on business group, on-call work may be an essential function of the job
- Occasional travel as required
Preferred Qualifications
Education
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
- Industry and vendor specific certifications and training (Cisco, Juniper, Alcatel-Lucent, etc.)
Experience
- Knowledge of company products and services

The base pay for this position generally is between $75,200.00 and $120,000.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as bonuses.
