Join Spectrum as a Senior Software Engineer to lead the development and integration of billing and mediation systems within a large-scale service provider platform. This role offers the chance to expand a dynamic team, tackling the challenges of scaling API traffic and a growing customer base. You will focus on developing features for the Bryte IQ platform, leveraging your expertise in software development, testing, integration, and API design to enhance platform capabilities for third-party developers.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Design and implement integration tests to validate platform functionality, proactively identifying and resolving issues before they reach production.
- Design integration solutions between billing platforms and mediation layers
- Assist external partners in integrating the Bryte IQ APIs to build their applications, providing technical guidance and troubleshooting their issues.
- Actively participate and lead team discussions, offering insights and feedback to drive continuous improvement in development processes.
- Help define and refine tasks for the sprint, ensuring alignment with project goals and team priorities.
- Design and develop REST APIs to be used by the third-party developers
- Design and implement robust, scalable APIs
- Architect system components for high-performance requiring excellent system design skills with experience architecting scalable, distributed systems
- Lead technical decisions around API versioning, backwards compatibility, and evolution strategies
- Collaborate with product teams to translate business requirements into well-designed API contracts
- Establish and maintain API design patterns and best practices across the platform
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO SPECTRUM
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience
- 5+ years IT experience
- 5+ years experience with software development methodologies
Skills
- Hands-on experience with Hadoop, Kafka, RabbitMQ, MySQL, or similar technologies
- Extensive experience with open source and commercial RDMS and NoSQL databases and MQ technologies
- Extensive experience working with DevOps engineers to build and deploy infrastructure with cloud deployment technologies
- Capable of delivering on multiple competing priorities with little supervision
- Experience with monitoring technologies (BigBrother, Hobbit, Solar Winds, NetCool)
- Experience with programming languages (Java, Python)
- Experience with building APIs and services using prevailing design models (REST, SOAP)
- Experience with scripting languages (Perl, Shell), Scrum/Agile methodologies, infrastructure automation methodologies, infrastructure automation methodologies (Docker, Kubernetes), and build automation technologies (Team City, Jenkins)
- Experience with software security principles and patterns
- Experience with cloud solution providers (Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud Platform)
- Strong understanding of AWS
- Experience with test-driven development and automated testing frameworks
- Must be capable of delivering on multiple competing priorities with little supervision
Preferred Qualifications
Experience
- 5+ years of backend software development experience with 2+ years in senior roles
- Strong understanding of performance optimization, caching strategies, and scalability patterns
- Strong expertise in TypeScript and modern JavaScript/Node.js development
- Experience with functional programming frameworks (or strong willingness to learn)
- Proven track record designing and implementing RESTful APIs and microservices architectures
- Database expertise with PostgreSQL and experience optimizing database performance
- AWS cloud experience including services like Lambda, API Gateway, RDS, and monitoring tools
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools (CloudWatch, DataDog, etc.)
- Knowledge of security best practices for API development and data protection
- Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines and modern development workflows
- Abilities:
- Ability to read, write and speak the English language
- Ability to collaborate with and contribute to a common culture of excellence.

The base pay for this position generally is between $88,200.00 and $156,600.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as bonuses.
