JOB SUMMARY The Government Affairs Specialist will be responsible for office management that involves coordinating and supporting a team of several professionals, performing heavy administrative support, and managing of the internal department budget. The job may include coordination of facilities management on behalf of the department, supporting our legislative leads in bill tracking, external communication with vendors and stakeholders, as well as letter writing.
Responsible for the administration of duties specific to the Government Relations department. Duties include office management that involves coordinating and supporting a team of several professionals, performing heavy administrative support, and managing of the internal department budget. Assist with franchise-related activities, such as the preparation and filing of franchise renewal applications and reports, plus other related franchise compliance matters and interaction with local communities. The job may include coordination of facilities management on behalf of the department, supporting our legislative leads with bill tracking, external communication with vendors and stakeholders, as well as letter writing.
This position will also support implementation of Charter’s NYS PAC and political programs and will report to the Associate Vice President of Government Affairs.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
Perform administrative support such as managing calendar, appointments, travel schedule, expense reports.
Manage the office and political budgets for a busy government affairs team by requesting/submitting invoices, establishing vendor accounts, identifying appropriate accounts, tracking expenses and YTD totals through an on-line process and track payments through excel spreadsheets.
Submit requests for, distribute, and track political and third-party contributions, manage political compliance filings with collaboration from legal.
Oversee compliance with election law and lobbying disclosure regulations, working with outside counsel.
Perform other duties as requested by supervisor.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Required Skills/Abilities and Knowledge Ability to read, write, speak and understand English Effective verbal and written communication skills Demonstrated knowledge of the political process and campaign finance laws Effective organizational capabilities and experience managing financial accounts Effective work ethic with desire to complement a fun and dynamic team atmosphere Ability to balance multiple priorities simultaneously Skilled in PowerPoint, Excel, Word Valid driver's license, satisfactory driving record within the Company required standards and auto insurance
Required Education Bachelor's degree in business, political science or related field or equivalent experience
Required Related Work Experience and Number of Years Political/government experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Preferred Skills/Abilities and Knowledge Corporate PAC experience a plus

The base pay for this position generally is between $55,600.00 and $88,600.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
