Are you ready to assist NOC Tier 1, TAC, Spectrum Business, and field personnel with troubleshooting and maintaining network elements essential for Spectrum's revenue-generating networks as a Network Engineer Operations I? In this role, you will offer enterprise-wide tiered support for converged distribution and access network elements and connections, while also providing support for basic to moderate services and other products as needed.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Troubleshoot topologies, hardware, software, transmission and signaling links and protocols
- Perform network problem resolution. Implements approved methods of procedure
- Maintain and support protocol compatibility standards, implements network enhancements and makes recommendations for improvement
- Work on projects/systems/issues of medium to high complexity surrounding network planning, configuration and optimization
- Handle escalated trouble calls and work closely with engineering, field technicians, and third-party vendors to resolve service issues
- Submits and execute change management requests
- Validate problem descriptions and perform detailed problem diagnosis; track and update problems in trouble ticketing system
- Develop problem resolution procedures required to meet serviceability requirements
- Verify alarms when needed; identify alarm correlations and appropriate response actions for future automation
- Maintain awareness of network activities affecting local elements

- May work in Network Lab environment or 24X7 Network Operations environment
- Occasional travel as required
What You’ll Bring to Spectrum
Required Qualifications
Education
- Associates degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or other related field or equivalent work experience
- Certification in either CompTIA Network+, OC-A, or CompVendor coursework (Network -Cisco, Juniper..., CMTS -Cisco, Casa…, Video-Cisco, Commscop or others as needed) for expertise in a particular technology, platform or service found in the Charter ecosystem
Experience
- 2+ years network support experience
- 2+ years technical work experience in at least one of the following; Gateways and PSTN Links, DHCP, DNS, Servers, HFC Elements, Conditional Access, Video on Demand, IP Video
Skills
- Schedule / Shift Requirements : Tuesday through Saturday 7:00 AM to 3:30 PMEST
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
- Knowledge of either IP, Video or Voice network fundamentals
- Knowledge of tunneling technologies such as L2 and L3 VPN's
- Knowledge in local and wide area networking communications
- Ability to utilize packet analysis tools and be proficient at reading network packet streams
- Knowledge of hardware, network operating systems and troubleshooting skills
- Knowledge of security features like PKI, VPN and Firewalls
- Knowledge of Switching and Routing Architectures
- Ability to analyze network design, architecture, protocols, topology, configuration and provisioning platforms
- Knowledge of support systems for network management and element management systems
- Knowledge of protocols such as RIPv2, OSPF, OSPF-TE, IS-IS, IS-IS -TE, BGP, MPLS and SIP
Preferred Qualifications
Skills
- Knowledge in security systems, methods and architecture
- Ability to provide continuous evaluation of the company's network infrastructure and initiate expansion or remediation projects to support growth and mitigate risks
- Knowledge of Hybrid Fiber Coax and DOCSIS/CMTS
- Knowledge of Transport Technologies CWDM, DWDM, SONET, T1, Ethernet and wireless technologies
