Are you passionate about shaping policy and building lasting relationships with government officials to drive meaningful change? Charter's State Government Affairs team is responsible for educating local and state officials about Charter's policy positions and advocating for laws, regulations, and ordinances that advance the company's business priorities, achieving Charter's franchising, legislative, and regulatory goals at the state and local level. We are seeking a bright, determined, and committed Government Affairs Manager to join the team and help coordinate and support strategies that drive the growth of Charter's Northeast Markets at the state and local level. Reporting to the Senior Director, Government Affairs Northeast, this role will work closely with the Northeast State Government Affairs team to support legislative, community engagement, regulatory, and franchising goals, ensuring Charter's interests and the interests of its customers are well represented in state and local policy. Your focus on state government affairs initiatives and strategic planning will help drive the company's continued success.
How You’ll Make an Impact
Contributing and supporting Charter's government affairs strategies and tactics in the Northeast.
Actively and consistently supports all efforts of the Northeast Government Affairs team’s objectives
Manage legislative tracking in New York State, New York City, and New Jersey
Summarize and socialize relevant legislative introductions with corporate policy leadership
Support meetings with New York State, New York City, and New Jersey consultants, stakeholders, and subject matter experts
Assist legislative team with other tasks, as needed
Assist in the development and implementation of New York State PAC strategies, including supporting execution of solicitation as well as budgeting and disbursement processes
Support regulatory management and filings in New York State, New York City, and New Jersey
Maintain a responsive constituent affairs portfolio to address elected and stakeholder inquiries
Support local franchising needs, projects and administrative tasks as needed
Assist in compliance activities related to lobbying disclosure regulations and election law
Represent the company before external constituencies, including elected officials and other state and local government agencies, commissions and authorities, and organizing and representing the company at community events and other external functions
Manage calendar and travel of Associate VP, Government Affairs Northeast
Complete other duties/responsibilities as required

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO SPECTRUM
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
Government, public policy, regulatory or legislative experience – 0-3 years
Advocacy, lobbying, and negotiating skills
Understanding of state and local government
Ability to multi-task and keep numerous projects on track and on budget
Ability to prioritize and organize effectively
Ability to maintain confidentiality of information
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Analytical/Interpersonal skills (i.e. ability to manage and foster change)
Certifications and/or Licenses
Valid driver’s license required
Satisfactory driving record within company standards
Auto Insurance
Preferred Qualifications
Having knowledge of cable, telecommunications and broadband products, services and regulation preferred

The base pay for this position generally is between $86,000.00 and $182,900.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
