The base pay for this position generally is between $86,000.00 and $182,900.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.

Do you have a strong technical background and thrive in complex network environments? Spectrum is seeking an ISP Engineer III to deliver high-quality signals and support critical infrastructure across headend and data centers. You will play a key role in maintaining, installing, and troubleshooting optical and electrical connections that keep Spectrum’s networks running smoothly. Your expertise ensures uninterrupted service and strengthens our network reliability.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Guide Inside Plant teams in troubleshooting and maintaining network elements to support Spectrum’s revenue-generating networks
- Deliver and maintain off-air, satellite, and digital transport signals using optical and electrical interfaces, including coaxial, fiber optic, and Ethernet cables
- Install, operate, and remediate headend equipment, performing root cause analysis and break-fix solutions
- Conduct facility inspections and ensure cabling, equipment installation, power and cooling comply with Spectrum standards
- Monitor network services for quality assurance and resolve advanced technical issues through detailed problem diagnosis
- Collaborate with vendors and stakeholders to design, install, and maintain critical ISP infrastructure
- Lead projects involving network planning, configuration, and optimization, often serving as a project team lead

What You’ll Bring to Spectrum
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics, Technology or Sciences or equivalent work experience (6 years)
- NCTI Fiber Installation & Activation Course, Valid SCTE BTCS Certification, NCTI Fiber Testing & Maintenance Course or NCTI Master Technician Certification, and SCTE DVEP
Experience
- 6+ years of Headend Technician, network implementation or electronics work experience
Skills
- Knowledge of related industry specifications and standards IEEE, ANSI, Physical Media/Cabling
- Advanced understanding of being an individual contributor within operations team and working to achieve team and organizational goals. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to solve complex issues.
- Advanced knowledge of Fiber test equipment – OTDR, OSA
- Advanced knowledge of RF Signal Delivery
- Advanced knowledge in TCP/IP and the OSI Model
- Intermediate knowledge of network devices; routing and switching hardware
- Basic Working knowledge of optical networking equipment
- Advanced knowledge of Critical infrastructure – HVAC, Generators, DC Plants and inverters
- Advanced operational knowledge of DOCSIS architecture and capacity management
- Advanced knowledge in using ticketing and software tools to support the current operations
- Advanced knowledge of application/network designing software, such as Microsoft Visio
- Advanced knowledge of existing Charter Application/Network data sources, such as InCUR
- Intermediate Knowledge in IPv4 and IPv6 IP Addressing
- Intermediate operational knowledge of Video/VOD/SDV Delivery systems including controllers, content acquisition.
- Advanced knowledge of ISP Playbook
- Advanced skills in methodical, logical and process driven troubleshooting.
- Advanced knowledge of HFC design and operational experience
- Advanced Knowledge of Microwave CARS band and IP transport radios and their performance
- Advanced understanding of how to measure, detect, and record voltage, amperage, and resistance
- Demonstrates effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Must demonstrate the ability to adapt and change to ensure the successes of the business
- Ability to use personal computer, software applications, handheld devices and applications
- Ability to differentiate between different sizes and colors of wires
- Ability to work with small components and wires to make cable connections within tight spaces by bending, reaching, and twisting
- Ability to use the following hand tools: electric drills, hammers, wrenches, screwdrivers
- Ability to safely use weight-bearing equipment (such as ladders) within the maximum limitations of that equipment)
- Ability to read system layouts from blue prints, system maps, and measure distances by using tapes or other measuring devices
- Ability to operate appropriate computer or test equipment associated with position
- Ability to prioritize and organize effectively and work independently
- Knowledge of basic mathematics and electronics
- Proficient Knowledge of Hybrid Fiber Coax and DOCSIS/CMTS
- Proficient Knowledge of Transport Technologies CWDM, DWDM, SONET, T1, Ethernet and wireless technologies
- Demonstrate proficiency in the use of a computer to compile databases, create documents and interact with various GUI based interfaces
- Demonstrate proficiency in design, installation and maintenance of critical systems
- Demonstrate extensive knowledge of network test equipment
- Extensive knowledge in local and wide area networking communications
- Extensive knowledge of support systems for network management and element management systems
- Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record within Company required standards
Preferred Qualifications
Education
- Valid certifications pertaining to critical facility infrastructure and Optical Transport
Skills
- Ability to walk over all types of terrain in all kinds of weather while carrying tools and equipment, including ladders and fully loaded tool belts
- Ability to perform job from high places (roofs)
- Proficient Knowledge of company products and services
- Proficient Knowledge of National Electric Code and National Electric Safety Code
- Proficient knowledge of video networking, IP networking, DOCSIS, SDV, VOD, and linear
- Proficient knowledge of Hybrid Fiber Coax and DOCSIS/CMTS
- Proficient knowledge of Transport Technologies CWDM, DWDM, SONET, T1, Ethernet and wireless technologies)
- Advanced understanding of advanced video networking, IP networking, and DOCSIS
- Proficient knowledge in local and wide area networking communications
- Basic Linux and server understanding
- Operating knowledge of emergency alert systems
