Have you led teams to provide financial and contractual oversight of internet network costs, interconnection services, and internal telecommunications expenses?  Spectrum is seeking a Senior Manager, Cost Analysis to lead a high-performing team responsible for cost analysis, month-end close and reporting, budgeting, forecasting, contract management, and operational and accounting support related to collocation, dark fiber, IRUs, and other telecommunications agreements as well as play a key role in ensuring financial accuracy, contractual compliance, cost governance, and alignment with accounting requirements, including ASC 842 lease considerations. Join Spectrum to partner closely with Finance, Accounting, Procurement, Legal, Network Operations, Internal Audit, IT, and integration teams to identify cost-saving opportunities, strengthen governance, and support accurate financial reporting.


Transition Responsiblities

In the initial phase of this role, the Senior Manager will:

  • Support the transition of Cox Communications’ telecom cost management activity to Spectrum’s practices, processes, and procedures
    • This includes leading the inventory of Cox telecom billing and contracts, including internet network, interconnection, and internal telecommunications agreements, and abstracting key contract terms, renewal and expiration provisions, and cost-savings and consolidation opportunities to support integration planning
    • Support the migration of Cox telecom cost management activity to Spectrum’s cost management and ERP systems, assisting with data validation, process alignment, and accounting treatment considerations, including ASC 842 lease matters
  • Upon completion of the migration, the Senior Manager will transition into the permanent role described below, assuming ongoing responsibility for cost analysis, financial reporting, contract management, and team leadership as outlined

How You’ll Make an Impact   

  • Lead cost analysis and reporting for internet network costs, interconnection services, and internal telecommunications expenses to identify savings opportunities, prevent cost leakage, and ensure contractual compliance
  • Prepare monthly and annual financial reports for leadership to support close activities, strategic planning, performance analysis, and decision-making
  • Develop budgets and forecasts for internet network costs, interconnection services, and internal telecommunications expenses to support short- and long-range financial planning
  • Partner with Operations, Procurement, and Legal to support negotiation of new agreements and renewals, ensuring contractual terms, pricing, and conditions align with business requirements and company standards
  • Serve as an escalation point for vendor billing disputes and complex contractual or financial issues, driving timely and effective resolution
  • Maintain key contracts and contract summaries, including critical terms, rates, obligations, renewal provisions, and financial impacts
  • Lead contract aging analysis and recurring review meetings to identify upcoming expirations, renewal terms, and notice periods, enabling proactive decision-making and risk mitigation
  • Partner with Accounting to evaluate new and renewed agreements, including total contract value and lease-related terms relevant to ASC 842
  • Lead month-end close activities for certain cost categories, including accrual calculations, expense analysis, journal entry submissions, and account reconciliations, to support accurate and timely financial reporting
  • Provide financial and contractual guidance to cross-functional partners, including Finance, Accounting, and Operations
  • Ensure strong internal controls, documentation standards, and governance processes for contract and cost management activities
  • Drive process improvements that enhance financial accuracy, reporting consistency, and operational efficiency
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of analysts responsible for network and telecom cost analysis and reporting
  • Build strong partnerships across internal teams and external vendors to support business objectives
  • Perform other duties as requested

Required Qualifications   

Education  

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field or equivalent work experience

Experience   

  • 10+ years of accounting experience
  • 5+ years of supervisory experience
  • 5+ years of fraud and billing experience

Skills

  • Knowledge of telecommunications industry
  • Experience in expense management
  • Knowledge of month-end financial close and lease accounting processes
  • Background in vendor contract and relationship management
  • Experience with telecom or other financial expense management platforms
  • Knowledge of SOC controls, internal controls and compliance frameworks
  • Ability to drive cross-functional collaboration

Experience

  • Experience with PeopleSoft, Khalix, or related systems
