Charter is looking for a regulatory attorney for its Washington, D.C. government affairs office who will be responsible for preparing and presenting Charter positions before regulatory agencies. This position interfaces with telecom regulatory issues arising before federal regulatory agencies (including the Federal Communications Commission, the Federal Trade Commission, the Department of Justice, the Department of Defense and the Department of Homeland Security), the White House, and Congress. This role will advocate to promote Charter’s policy goals for federal regulatory agencies as well as provide strategic advice to internal business groups on regulatory issues that impact Charter.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Actively and consistently support Charter’s policy goals and protect Charter’s regulatory interests at the Federal Communications Commission and other regulatory agencies.
Regularly interface with business units to identify and develop Charter’s regulatory policies while also providing strategic advice on issues impacting the company
Align with policy, legislative, and state government affairs teams as needed to support Charter’s policy and regulatory goals.
Maintain on-going professional and social contact as a problem solver with government agencies.
Perform other duties as requested.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Required Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical journals, financial reports and legal documents
Ability to use personal computer and software applications (i.e. word processing, spreadsheet, etc.)
Ability to work independently
Ability to write speeches and articles for publication and to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Knowledge of cable television products and services
Past relations with local government or official media profession
Valid driver's license, satisfactory driving record within Company required standards and auto insurance
Required Education
Bachelor's degree in government relations or related field
Juris Doctor
Required Related Work Experience and Number of Years

The base pay for this position generally is between $151,400.00 and $200,000.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
