See How Veterans Thrive at Spectrum

Nearly one in ten people at Spectrum have a relationship with the U.S. military. They all bring unique experiences and training to our teams. And with robust programs and partnerships, we're helping transitioning service members, veterans, guard, and reserve members as well as military spouses make the most of their civilian careers. That's why we're committed to building an environment and programs that help to cultivate meaningful careers within our company. Spectrum employs 96,000 people across 41 states and multiple lines of business. Hear what members of our military community have to say about their Spectrum careers. Scott W., Maintenance Technician

Marine Corps veteran, Scott Wiedeman, landed a job at Spectrum as a residential broadband installer after completing his service and a degree in computer science. He was promoted to commercial installer after just 18 months, and was recently promoted again. Across every team he’s worked with, he’s been struck by how supportive his colleagues and supervisors have been. “They were friendly and welcoming. A lot of people I work with are veterans too – one served 27 years in the Reserves and another is Navy. It’s like being around family,” said Wiedeman. Scott has also taken advantage of the development opportunities that Spectrum offers, such as training and education reimbursement, which have enabled veterans to gain new certifications and advance. Nikita W., Manager, Military Talent and Attraction

First in. Last out. Nikita was instilled this mentality during his 23 years of military service, and it still rings true when it comes to his role in corporate recruiting. Prior to his civilian career, Nikita served our country as a member of the U.S. Marine Corps. Today, he is one of nearly 9,000 veterans working at Spectrum. "Growing up in a military family (my father served 25 years in the U.S. Army), I know first-hand the challenges, processes and questions facing military families especially when transitioning from the public to private sector."  He is part of a team that offers an amazing opportunity to provide job stability and security for veterans and their families, while offering rewarding careers in a fast-paced environment. Marti M. GVP, Technology Implementation

Marti began her career in the Air Force writing software for satellite tracking systems, and was quickly put into a position where she was leading teams. Because of this, she was able to move into a leadership role as she transitioned into a civilian career. "I have always been very conscious of the fact that women need to support each other." For her female employees, Marti always meets with them one-on-one to help them with their challenges and give them guidance on how to advance their careers. "I’ve fought hard for equity across the board and I have personally recommended women for promotions when they have shown that they are ready and qualified." Read more about Marti's story here.

Milo S., Maintenance Technician

After his Navy service, Milo needed a hand and the nonprofit U.S. Vets stepped in – changing the course of his life. Years later, Milo nominated the organization for a Spectrum Employee Community Grant, resulting in a donation that will help U.S Vets reach more veterans in need. After establishing a new life for himself, he was hired by Charter. Milo felt a strong need to give back, so he started volunteering in his personal time with U.S. Vets to help other homeless veterans. When Charter presented the opportunity for employees to help a community organization, Milo thought immediately about the group that stepped up to help him. “I heard about SECG, and this year I nominated U.S. Vets,” he said. “It means a lot to me that Spectrum supported them and awarded them a grant." This year, to date, Charter has awarded more than $370,000 in Spectrum Employee Community Grants to 95 organizations nominated by our employees. Hear more about Milo's story.
